After last year's release of their current LP, A Swirling Fire Burning Through The Rye this crowd favorite of a band will be gracing The Chapel with their presence on March 4th along with San Francisco's folktastic rock band, Sugar Candy Mountain and O, the band formally know as Black Cobra Vipers.

You may not be able to see Cool Ghouls play another local show for a while, so don't sleep on this opportunity to see them perform!

Cool Ghouls Gear Up to Release New Album + Drop New Single

The incredibly popular San Francisco based band, Cool Ghouls is gearing up to release their new album, A Swirling Fire Burning Through The Rye which is due out on November 11th on Empty Cellar Records.

You have the opportunity to hear a new single from the album below. The quintessential CG sound resonates through their new track, The Mile, which is catchy but sounds a bit more mature than their earlier work. Although they still grasp tones and styles from The Beatles, there is a bit more of a serious tone to the song that shows that the band has evolved, which hopefully invokes anticipation for their upcoming album. We are intrigued for sure.

Give The Mile a listen. It’s a great song.

The Woolen Men + Cool Ghouls + Dogheart at Mississippi 7.29

Whenever you see The Woolen Men appear on a bill you can count on it being a killer show. Not just because of their own aptitude for producing first-rate garage slacker-pop jams, but also because they keep very good company. July 29 at Mississippi Studios the guys are hanging out with Dogheart and San Francisco based Cool Ghouls for a night of bouncy garage rock and crunchy guitars. Dogheart is a new band on the scene who runs with knockabout bands like The Shivas and Mister Tang, but takes a more polished and subdued approach to the Portland-garage sound. Cool Ghouls will fill in the rough-and-tumble role that Dogheart will be familiar with; their brand of R&B infused swinging rock and roll is reminiscent of early Strange Boys with a twist of psych rock texture. This lineup will get you so jiggy Will Smith would offer you a solemn nod of approval.

Joel Gion & the Primary Colours Play Two Bay Area Shows - 3/21 & 3/29

A month after playing their first show in San Jose, Joel Gion & the Primary Colours will be playing their first San Francisco gig on March 21st at Elbo Room along with newly minted SF-residents, the garage psych purveyors, Asteroid #4 and Portland's space rock outfit, Daydream Machine.

If one stacked lineup isn't enough, The Primary Colours will be playing a second show on March 29th at The Uptown in Oakland. This time around, San Francisco's garage rock heroes, Cool Ghouls will sub in for the Daydream Machine, joining the Colours and Asteroid #4 for another anticipated evening of revival rock and roll.

As an ambassador of the city's psychedelic underground of the 1990s, Joel Gion rose to recognition as the Brian Jonestown Massacre's erratic and endearing tambourine player. After shifting gears and challenging himself to be a songwriter for the first time, he formed The Primary Colours. So far, Joel has dropped small bits of material like his single, Yes, that features members of BJM and Asteroid #4, and drops hints that he has woven his own textured sonic tapestry. Joel Gion & the Primary Colours has yet to release any news about the emergence of their debut album, but check them out at one of their upcoming Bay Area shows to see what kind of trouble they've got in store for you and the scene. -Lauren Espina
