DAN DAN

Dan Dan Share New Single, "Swimsuit Season"

Since Dan Dan won our Artist of the Month poll back in October, they've instrumentally crawled deeper into our hearts with their synthy electro-rock. When we first heard of them, we itched to take in every last bit of Dan Dan's creations like rays of sunlight providing all of that necessary Vitamin Dan. They've since released a couple of new tracks and have been play a grip more shows, one of each recently warming are hearts.

Dan Dan just shared "Swimsuit Season" with us no more than a day ago and it's already sparked endless dreams of hot weather, sandy beaches and fun in the sun. Their use of synths, vocoder and an addicting drum beat on the track provide an endless allure that makes you want to play it on repeat.

Here's to hoping they'll play it at their next show, a benefit for the ACLU and the White Helmets fighting for what's right over in Syria. Also set to play this benefit, taking place this Friday at Valentines, is Lavender Flu and Pathogens. Tickets are on a sliding scale of $5 to whatever you can afford and music starts at 9pm.

Enjoy "Swimsuit Season" below.

DAN DAN: The band you need to know

If you find yourself caught in some sort of music rut, consider expanding your radar to include the talents of DAN DAN. Our latest Artist of the Month winners are coming up on their one year annviersary of show-playing, making their debut you last Halloween at Slims.

Since then, the local trio have been dishing out heavily synthy, electro-laced instrumental rock that catalyzes deeper thoughts and fevered movements. We're desperately craving more than just the four tracks on their Soundcloud page but until then we can stay satiated on their live performances.

DAN DAN's next unmissable set is actually tomorrow at Valentines, along with Fake Fireplace and Daughter Talk. It's only $5, so be sure to stop by and congratulate them on their poll win and anniversary of band-dom!

Schoolyard Farms benefit hits Secret Society

The Secret Society will be taken over with melodically folky and dreamy synth sounds this Friday for the sake of agricultural education for kids with a benefit supporting an organization called Schoolyard Farms.

Schoolyard Farms is a program that utilizes spare space on school properties to build mini farms, intending to teach and give kids hands on experience with sustainability, farming, better eating habits and other tillage aspects.

Ezza Rose, Sandy Loam, DAN DAN and Banda Feahr will all be playing Friday's benefit show, with proceeds going towards the construction of the next Schoolyard Farms mini farm at alternative New Urban High School in Milwaukie, Or.

Providing some grand master emceeing and comedic relief to the show will Hutch Harris of the Thermals. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 day of but regardless what you pay, you're helping give children a great hands on, educational experience.
