A recent tug at the heart strings led Maggie Morris to write Genders newest sarcastically lovelorn track "Life is But a Dream," which premiered yesterday over at AllMusic. It shows Genders at their usual best, luring you in with incredibly relatable lyrical themes and charismatic song structure.

"Life is But a Dream" is officially releasing this Friday, with their single release show this Saturday at Bunk Bar with Divers and Times Infinity. The track peaks at their new Phone Home EP, due out soon. Listen to the track below.

Indie punks Divers have been riding high since the release of their debut LP, Hello Hello, last year. The LP saw great praise from numberous outlets and come April 19th, we'll officially have another reason to praise them even more. Dirt Cult is releasing Divers' new two song 7". Side A is the rockin' track "Achin' On," but it's Side B we're focusing on right now. The B side features a well executed cover of Dead Moon's "Can't Do That." Vocalist Harrison Rapp perfectly emulates Fred Cole's croon, while still maintaining originality. Creepily enough, the tracks were internet-launched on the same day former Dead Moon-er Andrew Loomis passed away.

The first of its kind (well, maybe not in the whole world, but here in Oregon at least), the Get Outta Town series is in its infancy, with it's first edition to take place on January 30th. The premise of the Get Outta Town series is to encourage local music lovers to venture away from Portland's usual venues and see a different part of the state. It's an amazing idea, and Get Outta Town #1 will be held at Coyote Woods in Estacada, Oregon. Playing the inaugural bill will be Divers, Woolen Men, Ah God and Abronia, for tickets on a sliding price scale of $5-$10. Proceeds will partially go to the bands and partially go to coverage of any damage that happens to the property.

Just in case you drive down there and get a little too fucked up for the drive back to town, the Get Outta Town launchers are in talks with the local and independent Red Fox Motel for a potential discount for attendees, so stay tuned!

Divers stand out. It’s irrelevant to define their sound by one or two genres. Harrison Rapp, Seth Rapp, James Deegan and Colby Hulsey have already claimed a description: “sweaty dynamic”. The four-piece release their debut LP, Hello Hello, via Party Damage and Rumbletowne Records on February 17th. 

The quartet take calculated rises and falls through their sound, effectively bringing you up through energetic songs and mellowing you out with songs like “Great Escape”. The balance is something to remember. This Sunday, 2.15, Divers will perform at the High Water Mark Lounge for their hometown release show, which will also serve as a benefit fundraiser for harm reduction in Portland. Pageripper (also releasing an album), Marriage and Cancer, and Thin Coat are supporting. 8pm, $5.
