Hite

Hite brings Appalachian folk to C'mon Everybody 08.25

Drawing from both Appalachian folk music and modern experimental acoustic styles, Brooklyn based artist Hite ( aka Julia Easterlin) presents a captivating sound alongside illustrious storytelling. In March, Hite released her debut album, Light of a Strange Day, a tranquil and harmonious record featuring delicate vocals that carries listeners to a southern mountain soundscape. Catch Hite at C'mon Everybody 08.25, but for now watch the video for the song, "Light" below. -Tafari Lemma

Members of Hite, Crazy Pills, Desert Shark + more play The Hum on 05.22

The Hum doesn't need any introductions (if you don't know what it is, look here). The fourth monthly appointment, scheduled for Monday 22 at Good Room, will feature a diverse line up of artists, including a performence set curated by She Shreds magazine, the rag entirely focused on female guitarists. A wide variety of genres will be represented, from Desert Sharks' garage rock to Arooj Aftab eastern compositions, from the electronic experimentations of Stud1nt to the revival pop of Crazy Pills. We created a compilation featuring most of the of the artists involved in this promising night of collaborative performances curated by LPR Presents, check it out!

Three great NYC artists play Union Pool on 05.02: Wilsen, Alpenglow and Hite

We feel like recommending this bill of NYC based artists playing Union Pool pm May 02. Wilsen is a band led by amazing songwriter Tamsin Wilson, they were featured on the cover of our magazine a few years ago. Alpenglow, hailing from New England but now full Brooklynites, play similarly ghostly folk rock, and they do it well. Hite, on the other hand, is a new face in the local scene, and a compelling one: the solo act's debut LP "Light of a Strange Day" is one of the most interesting releases we've heard this year, a sparse record filled with inspiring sonic ideas, edgy soul songwriting and a voice that's impressively controlled and expressive. Do not miss!
