We're excited to share that the upcoming community based music festival Freak Nest will be taking place on March 26th at The Cave in the Dogpatch District of San Francisco!

Freak Nest is an independent Bay Area music festival showcasing the local artistic community. The festival will be held on March 26th, 2016, at a warehouse in the Dogpatch district of San Francisco.

Freak Nest was founded as a way to unite the local community of artists, musicians, performers, entertainers, writers, photographers, poets, and people. The festival is an attempt to revitalize of our inherent responsibility to stand together in this time of spiritual and financial adversity.

All of the bands are local and independent. The lineup consists of Down Dirty Shake, Night Shapes, fpod bpod, Little Sister, Trans Van Santos, LOCO TRANQUILO, Michael Musika, Mayya and the Revolutionary Hell Yeah as well as a handful of other special guests, including Adam Vida (FKA A-1).

The Final Night of the Sugar Candy Mountain Amnesia Residency is TONIGHT

TONIGHT is the last night of the Sugar Candy Mountain Residency at Amnesia! If you've been lucky enough to make all of the Tuesday night shows in April, you should be super proud of yourself for supporting a hard working local band! Tonight is a very special night because the former San Francisco based psych folk troubadour, Mark Matos (Trans Van Santos) will be performing on the bill with the uber talented San Francisco band, Luke Sweeney. Ash Reiter (Sugar Candy Mountain), Luke Sweeney and Mark Matos have contributed so much to the Bay Area music scene that it's going to be a really exciting night of close knit friends and artists.

We got a really cool exclusive quote from Mark Matos:

"I will be bringing out the original Os Beaches line up tonight for the first time in years: Ben from Hi Lo Ha, Jo L from Annie Girl & The flight, Joe M from Lee Gallagher and the Hallelujah plus Annie Girl (Annie Lipetz) are making an appearance with us, which makes it as close to a Family Folk Explosion reunion as it's going to get for a minute. Looking forward to seeing you!"

Trans Van Santos Celebrates Album Release at Amnesia - 3/28

Trans Van Santos (bka Mark Matos) will always and forever be a fixture of the San Francisco music scene. Throughout this transient season of his artistic career, he has managed to compose a score for a new James Franco documentary called I Think You're Totally Wrong, signed a record deal with Royal Oakie Records and released a full album entitled, Moon Mirage. Not half bad for an artist who had to jump in a van and roam away from the Bay Area for a couple of years to truly find his way back.

Matos' album release show will take place on March 28th at Amnesia Music Hall in the Mission District of San Francisco. We suspect he'll be playing a long and heady set with his revolving door of west coast/Bay Area musicians. This time, the band will feature a very special guest, longtime Patti Smith guitarist Oliver Ray. Trans Van Santos will be in full celebration and performing the entire night...at least we don't see a supporting act on the bill, which is a-okay with us.

It's never smart to miss a Mark Matos show, but this one is a pretty triumphant event. Head down to show and enjoy the psych-folk vibes and cozy atmosphere of Amnesia. -je

Trans Van Santos Little Tybee Brass Magic and Merrimack Play Amnesia – 7/13

The transient San Francisco psych folk staple, Mark Matos is playing his first show in San Francisco since his moving performance with Mark Matos and Os Beach at the Rickshaw Stop earlier this year. Matos has reemerged to play Amnesia with his new musical outfit, Trans Van Santos tomorrow night.

The popular Atlanta based experimental folk band, Little Tybee along with Bay Area based Brass Magic and Merrimack will complete the bill for this night of experimental and moody folk rock.

This is going to be another great night at Amnesia, so make sure you support the return of Mark Matos, and a lineup that will cloud the club with nostalgic and illuminating folk experimental sounds.
