Work Drugs

Free Download: "Roll" - Work Drugs

Hushed, seductive vocals coast along the sonic streets lined with percussion and keys in Work Drugs's new single, “Roll”. The sensual beacon of saxophone guides with its weaving, smooth sound as the song’s mysterious-night aesthetic fits neatly into the recently warmer climate. Work Drugs will be performing next in Philly on Saturday, June 11 at Boot & Saddle with Church Girls.

Free Download: "Permanent High" - Work Drugs

Opening the musical door with keys before rocketing off into a magnetic, balanced percussive groove, Work Drugs's new single, “Permanent High,” is an ideal catalyst for movement. The song, which will appear on the group’s forthcoming album (tentatively titled False Highs and Actual Lows) and will be released courtesy of Bobby Cahn Records, grabs as the steady stream of seductive vocals washes over the intense beat. Work Drugs will be hitting the stage at Boot & Saddle on Saturday, June 11 with Church Girls.

New Track: "Dance (Get Off Your Ass) (Work Drugs Remix)" - Queen of Jeans

With Queen of Jeans's Matheson Glass having spent a stint in the band Work Drugs, a remix was bound to be spawned from their creative relationship. Below is Work Drugs's reworking of the ladies' debut single, "Dance (Get Off Your Ass)," which does a fine job at getting you to follow directions. You can find Queen of Jeans this evening at Johnny Brenda's opening for Church Girls.

New Track: "American Fool" - Work Drugs & Announce New Album

"Smooth-fi" outfit Work Drugs just announced that the group will be releasing a new record later this year, titled False Highs and True Lows. The band also revealed the album's first single, which you can stream and download for free below. "The song is called 'American Fool' though it bears little resemblance to anything on the 1982 John Cougar record." It sounds like classic Work Drugs to us! (Photo by Kate Bracaglia)

Work Drugs 5th Annual Holiday Spectacle w/Kississippi & Kate Faust at JB's Dec. 12

Grab your dancing shoes, white sports coats and sunglasses: Work Drugs are back this Saturday for their 5th annual Holiday Spectacle at Johnny Brenda’s. With their glossy, tantalizing electro-funk rhythms, the group has established themselves over the years as prolific dance-pop songwriters, creating tunes that aren't just extremely groovable, but also at times, glazed with an introspective melancholy that can still maintain perfect pop sensibility. They'll be joined by the endearingly candid storytelling of Kississippi, who recently dropped their label debut We Have Know Future, We're All Doomed (Soft Speak Records), and siren-esque electro-pop singer-songwriter Kate Faust. Begin your holiday celebration early tonight! Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 8pm, $10-$12, 21+ - Bryce Woodcock
